WHAT IS THE HYBRID PUBLISHING PROCESS?

At The Author’s Journey, every book follows a clear, structured path to ensure a professional, polished release. While timelines vary by project, our process stays consistent, guiding authors through each stage from submission to launch.

Phase 1: Pre-Submission

  • Author submits manuscript sample, synopsis, and chapter summary

  • Manuscript is reviewed for fit and quality

  • If accepted, project kickoff call is scheduled to align on goals, timeline, and expectations

Phase 2: Publishing & Editing

  • ISBN and Library of Congress submissions

  • Professional editing (draft reviews, feedback, and revisions)

  • Final proofreading to ensure a polished, error-free manuscript

  • Custom cover design and development of marketing assets

  • Layout and file preparation for print and digital formats

Phase 3: Marketing & PR

  • Pre-order setup and submission to IngramSpark

  • Creation of a book club kit or reader guide for outreach

  • Marketing and PR push, including social media, email, or influencer outreach

  • Author guidance on launch planning, events, and promotions

  • Final distribution: files sent to print, metadata finalized, book made available globally through Ingram Content Group

This process ensures that every book we publish meets the highest professional standards — giving authors the confidence that their work is handled with care, attention, and expertise at every step.

PUBLISHING TIMELINE

We offer a flexible publishing timeline designed to balance professional production with efficient turnaround.

Authors are typically published within 6-12 months of signing, depending on the complexity of the project and the stage of the manuscript when it arrives.

For authors who submit a completed, polished manuscript, the timeline is often shorter, allowing us to move quickly through cover design, layout, and production. Our goal is to complete editing, design, and file preparation 1–2 months before release, giving authors time to focus fully on marketing, outreach, and launch activities without the last-minute stress common in many traditional publishing schedules.

By offering a year-round publishing calendar and adaptable timelines, we help authors bring their books to market efficiently while maintaining the professional standards and distribution reach that set hybrid publishing apart.
